In a tidy little victory, Subway, the people who assemble those long sandwiches for you and the world’s second largest restaurant company, has reprimanded a franchisee for using the Subway name in donating for Prop 8. Subway deemed it a violation of their franchise agreement to “use the Trademark in a manner that degrades, diminishes, or detracts from the goodwill of the business” and demanded the money be returned.
In addition, Subway went all in, updating its corporate anti-discrimination policies to reflect sexual orientation and gender identity. Congratulations to Subway for being responsive and concientious corporate citizens. Thank you!
(And thanks to Mike Rogers of BlogActive.com for making it happen. Good work.)
